What does Ad-Darr mean?
Ad-Darr must not be understood as an isolated attribute of malice. It signifies that harm, trials, and loss are within Allah’s sovereign power and wisdom. He is the ultimate cause of all conditions, and this name is paired with An-Nafi to show that neither harm nor benefit occurs outside His decree.
How can I call upon Allah with Ad-Darr in dua?
This name should not be used in an isolated or crude sense. It is best understood when asking Allah for protection from harm, removal of trials, and benefit after hardship, especially together with An-Nāfi'.
